The first part was held to say thank you to about twenty or thirty visitors that came to the island. The tradition continued after that and now hosts some thirty thousand people.
Full Moon Party Koh Phangan has become part of a the regular visit that is made to this island in Asia. Normally this beach party will go on all night long. Visitors to this celebration are allowed to glory in the great Rhythm and Blues music, Reggae, or listen to some great drum and bass, house and dance. These beach parties can get quite wild. Many would call this beach part the greatest of beach party experiences. Though touted as a great beach party, caution should be taken if someone is considering attending, as these parties can get out of hand requiring police intervention.
The fame of the Full Moon Party Koh Phangan has even reached Hollywood. It has been featured in may movies such as: The Beach, and Last Stop For Paul. It was also featured in a Thailand film, Hormones. Some may even have been exposed to the Full Moon Party through the TV shows it has graced: Comedy Central, and Gerhard Ranke’s Wanderlust. It was also featured in the documentary: Tourism and The Truth: Stacey Dooley Investigates.
Though the Full Moon Party Koh Phangan may be seen as the ultimate in beach parties, it is also become surrounded by some negative press. Some believe that it has been taken over by drugs and gangs and therefore has bred many incidences of assault, rape, murder and other unruly behavior. The British government even went so far as to warn against attending this affair when visiting the area.
Most would say that there is no real basis for the Full Moon Party Koh Phangan party in the local culture or religion. The instead would speculate that it was started mainly by tourists and carried on as a way to lure more tourists. But for those that are interested these parties take place every month one day before or after a full moon. There are sites online that someone can visit to see a total listing of all the dates that this party will be held on.
If someone is interested in visiting the ultimate in beach parties then this, indeed, is one to visit. The Full Moon Party Koh Phangan is thought to be one of the most spectacular and well-know beach parties. It attracts some of the most well-known, international DJs and musicians. The visitor will revel in the tremendous music and dance the night away to the beat. less -
